General practitioners – New code for the patients whom do not show up to their appointements

There is a new code you will have to bill for the patients whom do not show up to their appointements. (09956).

For statistical purposes, RAMQ and the Health’s Ministry have created a new billing code.

Effective September 25th of 2021 and retroactive to April 1st, 2021, when a registered or non-registered patient, with or without an appointment, does not show up for the scheduled visit, you must bill code 9956.

Code 9956 is billed with the patient’s Medicare number with no modifier, at a rate of $0
